Manor Programme Details

The Manor Programme is a combined work and therapy based programme. All residents have objectives to work towards and expected outcomes to achieve. We believe that love and acceptance for each resident as an individual provides hope and dignity for the future. We introduce structure and discipline to enable problematic feelings and attitudes to be challenged as well as new ones tried and tested in a safe environment.

The programme is not easy - it is not a soft alternative to continued substance misuse or to prison. It requires a genuine decision to want to change and a willingness to work with staff to identify and begin to address the issues underlying the resident’s substance misuse. It is inspiring to witness the change in men as they work through each stage of the programme, battling with issues long denied and becoming free rom drugs and alcohol.

It offers:
• A medically supervised Community Detoxification from methadone and subutex for men entering the Manor (1st Stage) Programme
• An intensive Residential Rehabilitation Programme, which is flexible in length between 3 and 6 months, dependent upon assessed need

The initial assessment/orientation period provides men with the opportunity to adjust to life at the Manor, and objectives reflect this. During the subsequent phases, objectives build upon achievements as men begin to face difficult situations, drug and alcohol free. Residents learn within a supportive and safe environment that we all make mistakes in life which, when responded to positively, can be a means to achieve personal growth and lasting change.

The faith dimension can help to keep motivation high by providing hope, and impacts at a personal and practical level. Many local churches take responsibility to provide tangible and on-going support for residents once they leave. This adds to the support network available and encourages meaningful social engagement. Staff model Christian behaviour and attitudes to residents. There is an expectation of participation in all aspects of the programme, however we do not expect or insist upon residents being or becoming Christian. Residents are accepted from all faith backgrounds.
